Meet Our Artists: Fatima Omir

Fatima Omir, Kazakhstan

“We can talk about postcolonialism, about the fact that the society of Central Asia consists of individuals-tumbleweeds detached or detached from the roots, traveling on the wind in search of a new home, but the history of civilization suggests that the migration of human populations took place all over the world and before the last colonization. And after them, in our last times, before the pandemic, people were not restricted in moving around the world, migrated and emigrated. And although the pandemic temporarily slowed down these flows of travelers, on the other hand, it sharpened the desire of some to change their permanent place of residence dramatically, and someone may have realized that there is actually nowhere to run.”
